31  And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

  7  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

  20  For behold, at that day shall he ^arage in the hearts of the children of men, and stir them up to anger against that which is good.

  18  Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, ye must watch and pray always lest ye enter into temptation; for ^aSatan desireth to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.

  22  ^aSatan stirreth them up, that he may lead their souls to destruction.

  3  And also ^aSatan hath sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you.

  29  Wherefore, he maketh ^awar with the saints of God, and encompasseth them round about.

  8  And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God—he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom of God.

  4  And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all ^clies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.

  5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, ^bknowing good and evil.

  3  For they are carnal and devilish, and the devil has power over them; yea, even that old serpent that did beguile our first parents, which was the cause of their fall; which was the cause of all mankind becoming carnal, sensual, devilish, ^eknowing evil from good, subjecting themselves to the devil.

  5  Yea, and I know that good and evil have come before all men; he that knoweth not good from evil is blameless; but he that ^bknoweth good and evil, to him it is given according to his desires, whether he desireth good or evil, life or death, joy or remorse of conscience.

  16  For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

  25  Yea, he saith unto them: Deceive and lie in wait to catch, that ye may destroy; behold, this is no harm. And thus he flattereth them, and telleth them that it is no sin to ^blie that they may catch a man in a lie, that they may destroy him.

  27  And thus he goeth up and down, to and fro in the earth, seeking to ^bdestroy the souls of men.
