13  Know for a certainty that the Lord your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and ^bthorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the Lord your God hath given you.

  22  That through them I may ^aprove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

  25  And the Lord God said unto me: They shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to ^astir them up in remembrance of me; and inasmuch as they will not remember me, and hearken unto my words, they shall scourge them even unto destruction.

  28  And they shall be a ^ascourge unto the people of this land. Nevertheless, when they shall have received the fulness of my gospel, then if they shall harden their hearts against me I will return their iniquities upon their own heads, saith the Father.
