8  Now, these are ^athey who were converted unto the Lord:

  5  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your ^bservants for Jesus' sake.

  10  Nevertheless, after much tribulation, the Lord did hear my cries, and did answer my prayers, and has made me an ^cinstrument in his hands in bringing so many of you to a knowledge of his truth.

  9  And it came to pass that they journeyed many days in the wilderness, and they fasted much and prayed much that the Lord would grant unto them a portion of his Spirit to go with them, and abide with them, that they might be an ^binstrument in the hands of God to bring, if it were possible, their brethren, the Lamanites, to the knowledge of the truth, to the knowledge of the baseness of the traditions of their fathers, which were not correct.
