8  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the ^bloss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

  1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living ^bsacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

  14  And it came to pass that my father, Lehi, also found upon the ^aplates of brass a genealogy of his fathers; wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of Joseph; yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob, who was sold into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord, that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household from perishing with famine.

  2  And Alma said unto them: Behold, ye have said that ye could not worship your God because ye are cast out of your synagogues. But behold, I say unto you, if ye suppose that ye cannot worship God, ye do greatly err, and ye ought to search the ^cscriptures; if ye suppose that they have taught you this, ye do not understand them.

  8  And now, it has hitherto been wisdom in God that these things should be preserved; for behold, ^athey have enlarged the memory of this people, yea, and convinced many of the error of their ways, and brought them to the knowledge of their God unto the salvation of their souls.
