4 John to the ^aseven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which ^bis, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven ^cSpirits which are before his throne;

A. We are to understand that these elders whom John saw, were elders who had been faithful in the work of the ministry and were dead; who belonged to the ^cseven churches, and were then in the paradise of God.
