Exodus 20:19  
 19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God aspeak with us, lest we die.

  25  Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the avoice of the Lord our God any more, then we shall die.

  16  According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not ahear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

  19  And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which avoice they that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

  22  For without this no man can see the face of God, even the Father, and live.

  11  But now mine own eyes have beheld God; but not my natural, but my spiritual eyes, for my natural eyes could not have beheld; for I should have withered and gdied in his presence; but his glory was upon me; and I beheld his face, for I was transfigured before him.
