Alma 42:17
17 Now, how could a man repent except he should asin? How could he sin if there was no blaw? How could there be a law save there was a punishment?

8  But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the alaw sin was dead.

15  Because the law worketh wrath: for where no alaw is, there is no transgression.

13  (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no blaw.

25  Wherefore, he has given a law; and where there is no claw given there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement; for they are delivered by the power of him.
